Girls Really Living

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

This past Saturday, Jaimee and Jennifer had another blessed afternoon with a special group of girls. This month’s theme was on giving not just your heart to the Lord, but also your soul (mind, will and emotions) and your body. Romans 12:1-2, I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Girls Really Living
We learned that our heart is reflected in our dress, words and actions. Afterwards we talked and prayed with each other in small groups.

Girls Really Living
We had a special tea!

P.S.
the mission statement of our church is “inviting each individual from every background to really live in Christ.” This gave us the inspiration in naming our girls ministry. Are you dying to really live? Click here!

Recipe

For those interested in the Reduced-Fat Cherry-Chocolate Refrigerator Pie, here is the recipe:

Wafer Crust:
2 cups reduced-fat vanilla wafer crumbs
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon water

Vanilla Layer:
1 1/2 cups cold fat-free milk
1 (6-serving size) box vanilla pudding mix

Chocolate Layer:
3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1 (8-ounce) tub fat-free frozen whipped topping, thawed
1/3 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
1/4 cup maraschino cherries, sliced

For Wafer Crust: combine vanilla wafer crumbs, butter and water until evenly distributed. Reserve 2 tablespoons for top, then press remainder in bottom of an 8-inch square pan. Set aside.

For Vanilla Layer: beat cold milk into pudding mix for 1 minutes, until it starts to thicken. Spread over the bottom crust. Set aside.

For Chocolate Syrup: stir chocolate syrup into whipped topping. Fold in walnuts and cherries. Spread over vanilla layer. Sprinkle reserved crumbs over top. Chill for 2 hours or overnight.

Enjoy! :)

note- we used a graham cracker pie shell for the wafer crust
