John and Lynette go Dancin’

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

John and Lynette had fun over the past eight weeks taking country western dance lessons through community education. They learned the Texas Two-Step, Country Waltz, Polka, Schottische, Swing, and Cotton-Eyed Joe. Good exercise, fun fellowship, and much laughter!

Indianapolis Dad’s Conference

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Earlier in November, John was blessed to attend a Dad’s conference in Indianapolis. He experienced encouraging teaching from Bill Gothard, Ken Pierpont, Chris Hogan, and Doug Small, as well as Christian fellowship with many other fathers. One of the main themes was the power that God gives us when we are in one accord: passionately pursuing the same goal of loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and loving others as Christ loved us.

We were surprised to see new furry friends in our neighbor’s yard yesterday! They are some of the shiniest cows and look so soft.

As the deer…

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

a buck in the field
As the deer panteth after the water brooks, (and hungers after every green and flowering thing in our yard!) so panteth my soul after Thee, O God. Psalm 42:1

We saw this beautiful buck out the dining room window this morning. It made us think of the verse above- how we are to thirst and long for Christ and seek to be satisfied by Him alone.
