The past month has been eventful in our lives. We started off by attending the wedding of our good friend Aimee (Wheeler). She and her husband, Robert Moore, are missionaries. They have an awesome testimony of trusting God for a life partner and of deep love for children. We know they will be a blessing to the people of Asia.

Khaliann and Devin
Next came the wedding of Devin and Khaliann, friends from our church. Both of them are on fire for the Lord and are always an inspiration to us. We are so grateful for their friendship!

Here we are downtown at Casa Rio – our favorite restaurant along San Antonio’s Riverwalk. It was a special evening as we were remembering God’s faithfulness to Jaimee one year ago.

The 5 Lavins are celebrating! Today, August 10th, 2007, is a special day in my eyes. It is the one year anniversary of my being drug-free. Lord, You are so good and faithful. Your ways are mysterious and astounding!
Last year on this day I made the decision to trust the Lord for healing and stop all my medicines – cold. I was on Cymbalta and Morphine, and had many of their side effects reigning over me. The 2 weeks that followed were like the worst form of life I could not have imagined. Ghastly withdrawal, unbearable pain, torrents of tears.

BUT THE LORD REIGNS! His will won at last, and the drugs had to release their hold on me. My life will never be the same. I have learned to pray and cry to Jesus as never before, and also to stand against and cast out satan – he has no rights over me. I am a child – a treasured child – of the Most High God. His life now reigns over me!

“I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:1-4, 19

To God alone be the praise ~ for the great things He has done!
