Interior Decorating Class

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Jennifer and Jaimee recently took a two week interior decorating class at the Dallas Ministry Center. They had classes on interior decorating principles; special outings to reinforce instruction; and “hands on” sessions throughout the two weeks for practical application. It was an enjoyable time of learning, sewing, sight-seeing, and making new friends.

It was special to meet several from Quebec who were serving there for the summer. Elisa is a cheerful sweet girl, and is doing great learning English. We had just enjoyed a good laugh over her frequently-used phrase “I don’t know!”

Up late one night going through magazines. Each of us had to present a board with cut-outs and plans for a room. A fun job!

Revive Our Hearts

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Laura
Revive Our Hearts, with teacher and host Nancy Leigh DeMoss, is a ministry calling women to “freedom, fullness, and fruitfulness in Christ.” Revive our Hearts is an outreach of Life Action Ministries and is based in Niles, Michigan. They are trusting God to bring widespread personal and corporate revival and reformation among women. They reach out to Christian women with three primary outreaches: conferences and events, daily media, and resources and publications.

Over the past year, the Lord has opened the door for our good friend Laura Shaffer to serve with ROH. Her role will be assisting with publications and graphic design, and Lord-willing, she will be moving to Michigan this summer.

We had the pleasure of having Laura in our home recently, and she was able to share with friends about ROH and the Lord’s calling on her life. She is still seeking to raise monthly financial support, and is trusting God to provide.

Should you like to give to Laura, you can do so by sending your tax-deductible donation, along with a note of designation for “Laura Shaffer” to:

We also encourage you to visit Nancy Leigh DeMoss’ website Revive Our Hearts and take advantage of the wonderful resources that are available through her ministry.

A Wedding Shower

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Yesterday we hosted a wedding shower for our newly married friends, Woody and Gina. It was a joy to share in their celebration and to see their excitement! The Lord gave us a wonderful afternoon together, and here are some pictures from the shower.

hmm… how well do you know each other?? This was a fun game: the bride and groom were each asked questions about the other, and if they answered incorrectly, they had to chew an additional piece of gum. It made for quite the mouthful!

A Poem for Woody and Gina
June 3, 2007
Woody and Gina, you’re two of a kind
Remember the saying that love is blind
Now some may think it makes the world go round
But seek Christ first to keep your marriage sound.

With Him at the head you cannot go wrong
Build your home with joy and many a song
Submit to each one as to God above
Put the other first and you’ll find true love.

A love that bears and believes all things too
Not rude or selfish, but patient and true
Is kind, considerate and never fails
Honors, respects and compassion prevails.

Leave father and mother, now you are one
Yet honor them, you’re still daughter and son
Cleave to each other as husband and wife
Then you will have a most meaningful life.

Eat right, exercise and strive for good health
Plan, budget; but don’t accumulate wealth
Avoid debt and the lure of quick money
Listen to the cautions of your honey.

Don’t let the sun go down on your anger
Forgive, forget; you’ll stay far from danger
Suit up in God’s armor for every day
And a hedge over your spouse you should pray.

Marriage is a wonderful gift from God
So you should consider the path you trod
Take time to love, hold and cherish your mate
Your life together, oh may it be great!
