A Celebration!

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

This past Saturday, we joined John’s parents for their 70th Wedding Anniversary party. They invited many of their friends from Eden Home for refreshments, fellowship, music, and a special time of renewing their vows. It was a beautifully blessed day. God has been so faithful to keep them together throughout all these years. What a testimony they are to us!

Carl and Martha Lavin’s 70th Wedding Anniversary
February 24, 2007
(A Poem by their son John Lavin)

The twenty-fourth of February, we celebrate today,
A special couple where there are, many good things to say,
A long life shared together, for these past seventy years,
Being faithful to each other, through many joys and tears.

Carl and Martha became one, in nineteen thirty-seven,
A marriage built on God, they will one day be in heaven,
Their love for each other, grows stronger through good days and bad,
And touching many lives, they make others joyful and glad.

A simple life built on Christ, love, virtue, values and trust,
Not going to bed angry, they make forgiveness a must,
You can feel the warmth of their home, where music fills the air,
And see confidence in the Lord, meeting their every care.

Dancing in years past, exercising, playing forty-two,
Watching Lawrence Welk, counting their blessings, a life so true,
Dad used to hard work, and exhibiting a servant’s heart,
Considering Mom’s best interests, each day from the start.

Raising two children, and now four grandchildren to carry on,
A godly heritage and example, that won’t soon be gone,
Where husband and wife can say with words so true,
Let me call you “Sweetheart,” I’m in love with you.

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

This Sunday, our pastor said he wanted to introduce the congregation to his Heavenly Father. He concluded his message with a powerful reading while the orchestra accompanied him. It was an inspiring reminder of what a great, powerful, and loving God we have.

On a Sunday afternoon…

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

This past Sunday, we enjoyed having the 20’s group over from Castle Hills First Baptist Church. Mom did a superb job helping us plan a lunch to feed 24! The fellowship over hot chili and rice was good and we all had fun playing outdoor games. Grateful to the Lord for friends and family in Christ.

A Valentine Special

HOW DEEP THE FATHER’S LOVE FOR US, how vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss—The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One bring many sons to glory.

Behold the Man upon a cross, my sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life—I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything, no gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart—His wounds have paid my ransom.
~Stuart Townend

We praise God for His wondrous love for us and for His many blessings.
