Christmas Party in Austin

The Van's Christmas Dinner
Our whole family enjoyed visiting with John’s high school buddy, Bob Vann, and his wife, who invited us to their home for a Christmas dinner party. John saw him for the first time in 40 years at their high school reunion this fall. Memories from the past!

A December Tradition

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

This past Saturday evening found us downtown along the beautifully decorated San Antonio Riverwalk.

Casa Rio
It has been a family tradition to eat at Casa Rio, one of our favorite restaurants, during the month of December.

Recital!

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

Jennifer’s students had their piano recital on Saturday, December 10th.

Trio
The Recital included several trios – a challenge for those siblings (and parents!) involved, but a great joy to all who heard the final results!
Josh, Jennifer, and Jaimee ended with a trio they learned about 10 years ago.

Our Yule Tree

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

“He who bore our sins in His own body on the tree that we, being dead to sin, might live unto righteousness.” 1 Peter 2:24 The Christmas tree speaks to us of Jesus and Calvary. It’s a reminder that He was born that He might die. He had to die on that tree that we might be born again and experience the message of Christmas.

Bringing home the tree
We went out into the woods of Home Depot to chop down (select) our Noble Fir.

Hanging lights
The lights can signify that Jesus is the Light of the world, and in Him is no darkness at all. (John 8:12) They also remind us to let our light shine before men, that they might see our good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

The reason for the season
“And this shall be a sign unto you, ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” Luke 2:12
He is Christ the LORD!

It's cold out here; can we come in?
Addie and Essie, “We want to see the tree too!”
